I tell ya. It’s a surreal feeling to know that someone could be reading your book right now… on the subway, in a cafe, or at a park in any city, anywhere in the world. And the fact that this books exists at all really is a testament to the power social media. All this began on a fateful day in February 2005 with the launch of a Myspace Page meant solely to promote nonprofits and foster social good. Now, six years and 500,000 friends, followers, and fans later everything I’ve learned through hands-on experimentation with social and mobile media has been compiled into 268 pages in Social Media for Social Good: A How-To Guide for Nonprofits.

An accidental author, the truth is I initially turned down the opportunity to publish a book. I was overwhelmed with the daily responsibilities of working and paying the bills, and taking three months off from presenting webinars (thus no income!) to write this book seemed impossible. But how do you turn down McGraw-Hill?! I couldn’t, of course. That said, it’s been a lot more work that I ever would have imagined, but now 11 months after the process began, the e-book is now available for download. I hope you find it useful… being useful is the book’s number one objective. And for those that have yet to make the transition to e-books (and I am one them), the print version is set to be released any day now.

Finally, the book is launching in conjunction with a 10-city social and mobile media training and book tour fundraiser. Proceeds benefit the partner nonprofits listed below. We would love to see you there!
